Jerald Walter Julius Rohde, 82, Cloverleaf Lakes, Clintonville, passed away April 22, 2016, surrounded by his family.
The son of Howard and Leona (Dingeldein) Rohde was born January 26, 1934. He married Janice Kunstman on September 28, 1957 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Appleton.
At the age of 16, Jerry left school to serve his country in the Korean War. He proudly received his diploma from Menasha High School in 2014, at the age of 80.
Jerry and Jan owned The Home Plate Bar in Menasha for fifteen years. He enjoyed racing stock cars and later on, announcing races at tracks throughout Northeast Wisconsin. He founded the Red, White and Blue Series at the Wisconsin International Raceway in Kaukauna. In 2012, Jerry was inducted into the Stock Car Hall of Fame in Shawano.
Upon retiring to Cloverleaf Lakes, he enjoyed fishing, doing yardwork and going to the casino.
Jerry is survived by his wife of over fifty-eight years, Jan; daughter Lynn (Brian) Gerrits, De Pere; grandchildren Curtis (Cassie) Gerrits, Cottage Grove, MN, Geoffrey (Mel) Gerrits, Sherwood, Bradley (Katie) Gerrits, Omro; great-grandchildren Ethan, Everett and Isla, Aria, and Charlie; and best friend, Zoey.
He is further survived by his siblings, Howard (Martha) Rohde, twin brother Jerome (Grace) Rohde and Janet (Don) Jarchow; brother-in-law, Marvin Wilson; sisters-in-law Jackie Froehlich and Judy Seamans; as well as Connie Roesler and Bonnie McDaniel, both of Minnesota, and many other nieces, nephews and friends.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Leona; sisters, Sharon Wilson and Janice Reinert; brothers-in-law George Froehlich and Allan Seamans; and his cat, Cow.
Family and friends may call at RYAN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 305 North Tenth Street, De Pere from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, May 3, 2016. A short prayer service will be held at 6:30 pm at the funeral home with full military honors to follow. Inurnment in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
