IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jerry Richard
Zegers
July 10, 1956 – August 21, 2024
Jerry Richard Zegers, 68, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2024, in Howard, Wisconsin surrounded by his family. Born on July 10, 1956, in Green Bay, Jerry was a cherished member of his family. He was the strong, silent, loving center bringing together his daughters, Kristen and Emily, with his wife Lynn and her son Brian to create a family of excellent bowlers.
Jerry graduated from De Pere High School before completing a plumbing apprenticeship at NWTC obtaining his Journeyman Plumbers certification. He dedicated over four decades of his life to the only job he ever had at Benzschawel Plumbing in De Pere from 1971 until his retirement in 2014. Known for his reliability and thoughtful nature, Jerry was not just a skilled plumber but also a trusted colleague and friend.
Outside of work, Jerry, affectionately known as "Ziggy," enjoyed living his dream in Crivitz, Wisconsin where he and Lynn lived for eight years of retirement until their recent move to Howard. His easy-going and caring personality made him the sweetest man to those who knew him well. Jerry had a profound impact on his family, always quietly looking out for them. He was proud knowing that he had had a role in raising three self-sufficient, well-rounded, accomplished children who have built lives with family and careers they greatly enjoy.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Lynn Zegers; his children, Kristen (Brad) Sanderson, Brian (Heather) VandenLangenberg, and Emily (Nathan) Laws; granddaughters Ava and Aria VandenLangenberg; brother, Tom (Diane) Zegers, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Joyce Zegers; his mother-in-law, Barbara Rottier; his sister-in-law, Lori King, grandparents, and numerous aunts and uncles.
Services to honor Jerry's life will be held at Ryan Funeral Home, 305 N. Tenth Street, De Pere, WI 54115, on Saturday, September 7, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM with a prayer service at 11:00 AM.
Jerry will be remembered for his kindness, reliability, and the care he devoted to others. His legacy of thoughtfulness and dedication will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched.
A special thank you to the many who helped Jerry's family over the last ten years: Froedtert Hospital in particular Dr. Marcelo Pasquini, Bellin Hospital, Unity Hospice and Keith and Ruth Johnson. Utmost appreciation to his brother, Tom Zegers, who donated stem cells and the gift of life in 2014 to cure Acute Monocytic Leukemia. This gift gave Jerry and his family ten years of life which Jerry lived his way.
Due to recent deaths in the immediate family, we are requesting no flowers or plants. Donations will be used to offset funeral and memorial costs.
