IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joan Delores
Leicht
May 22, 1934 – February 19, 2025
Joan ("Jo") Delores Leicht, age 90, of Green Bay Wisconsin, died in Howard, WI on February 19, 2025. Her 3 girls had the privilege of sharing portions of her final months with her, as she navigated her way through a long battle with dementia to complete her journey to heaven.
Jo was born on May 22, 1934, to Ray and Peg Rosen in the small town of Evansville, Wisconsin. She grew up helping in the family restaurant and attended nursing school at UW, Madison graduating with a nursing degree in 1957.
Jo proudly raised 3 girls before returning to work as a hospice nurse and subsequently as a patient representative at Bellin Hospital. She meticulously cared for patients and anyone in need. She had a heart of gold and delighted those who interacted with her, with her sweet personality. She was nurturing, empathetic, practical and selfless. She lived her life in service to others, never wanting to be in the spotlight. Being raised during the depression, she never forgot the values instilled in her. She was inwardly frugal and outwardly generous. She was the first to raise her hand when a volunteer was needed, no matter what the request.
She loved and was dedicated to the church. As a long-standing member of First Presbyterian Church, she served many terms as a deacon, an elder, and on numerous committees. She helped with Vacation Bible School, participated in Circle and Bible studies, became a Stephen Minister, volunteered with the Food Pantry. She went on mission trips and sang in the choir. She was a founding member of a local PEO chapter, proudly serving the organization's mission of raising money to support the education of women, for over 50 years. She loved gardening and cherished her family.
Jo was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Peg Rosen of Evansville, Wisconsin, brothers Don (wife Mary), and Clyde (wife Margaret).
Jo is survived by her three daughters, Kathy (husband Steve) of Tulsa, OK, Barb of Neenah WI, and Susan of Doylestown, PA and her grandchildren, David (wife Natalia), Anna, Jonathan, Alex (fiancée Savannah), Sarah, Andrew, Makayla and great grandchild, Caleb all of whom she cherished deeply. Also, her treasured nieces and nephew Randy (Charlotte) Rosen, Muffy (Leo) Owens, Anne (Andre) Rosen Spears, Julie (Jim) Paulson, all of whom knew her as Auntie Jo and her sister-in-law, Nancy Leicht.
Friends may call at First Presbyterian Church, 200 S. Ashland Ave., Green Bay on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, from 9:30AM – 11:00AM. A Celebration of Jo's life will take place at 11:00AM with Pastor Katie Estes officiating. Ryan Funeral Home, De Pere is assisting the family.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for First Presbyterian Food Pantry. The link can be found on this page below the obituary.
The family wishes to thank the caregivers at New Perspective and the "ladies of Vivid Living" with whom she developed a special bond in the last years of her life. They truly became an extension of her family, and we will forever be grateful. Heartfelt gratitude to the Bristol Hospice team of Molly and Allison. Their gentle, consistent care of mom meant the world to us. And finally, a special thank you to Selena and those who were with mom at the very end.
