Joanne "Joanie" Ellen Poquette, 63, of Batesville, and formerly of De Pere, Wisconsin, passed away May 2, 2022 surrounded by family after a short illness. She was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin on October 7, 1958 to Earl F. and Mary (Waznick) Poquette.
She graduated from West De Pere High School in the class of 1976. She was MVP her senior year of high school for her basketball team as well. Joanne went on to be a subjugation analyst with Humana and United Health in Green Bay.
Joanne was a sports fanatic and an avid Green Bay Packers fan. She was a talented singer and an excellent cook. Cooking was simply how she gave back. Joanne loved to share her recipes, including her homemade cookie dough. As long as she was feeding her family, she was happy.
Her grandchildren were a huge part of her life and were part of the reason she eventually moved to the Batesville area.
She will be deeply missed by her only daughter Aimee Poquette Richey, favorite son-in-law Chris Richey, and beloved granddaughters Anya Jo and Reese Ellen; siblings, John Poquette, Earl (Pat) Poquette, Peter (Betsy) Poquette, Steve (Lori) Poquette, Mary (Richard) Meeuwsen, Sue (Tony) Wenzel, Kathy (Mike) Pickett, Cheryl (Steve) Purshock, Dick (Colleen) Poquette, Sam (Rae) Poquette, Jean Poquette, Trixie (Kevin) Sobieck and Judy Treml and her brother-in-law Dan VanLanen. Joanne is also survived by many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews along with her good friend Jill Fricke.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, oldest sister Peg (Margaret) Van Lanen; youngest brother Mike Poquette, baby brother Tommy Poquette; Nephews Evan Van Lanen, David Poquette, Aaron Meeuwsen and Ricky Poquette.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, May 7, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville. A Celebration of Life will also be held at Ryan Funeral Home in De Pere, Wisconsin from 5-7pm on May 13, 2022. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to her grandchildren's college fund.
