Joel F. Pierce, 81, St. Simons Island, GA passed away on February 27th, 2015 after a long battle with leukemia. He graduated from Emory University in 1959, severed two years in the Army at Fort McPherson and worked at Liberty Mutual Insurance Company until his retirement at age 57. Joel is survived by his wife of 55 years, Betty Jones Pierce; daughter Holly Pierce Mock, De Pere, WI; two granddaughters, Elizabeth and Sarah Mock, De Pere, WI; sister, Rose Pierce, Dublin, GA, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 21st at 2pm at St. Simons United Methodist Church, 624 Ocean Boulevard, St. Simons Island, GA. A reception/visitation will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Simons United Methodist Church.
