J. Marie Jansen, 85, of De Pere, passed away peacefully January 17, 2009. Marie was born January 26, 1923 to the late Bernard and Clara (Gevers) Kempen in De Pere. She attended Nicolet High School and graduated in 1940. She married Norbert Jansen on February 8, 1947 at St. Boniface Church in De Pere and he preceded her in death in February 23, 1979. Marie was a loving homemaker, raising her seven children. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and past president, a former member of Christian Mothers at St. Boniface. She very much enjoyed her time bowling, golfing, card playing, traveling, and singing and yodeling with all of her family. She also loved to teach the family how to cook Booyah. Marie also enjoyed her time at their cottage on the bay. She is survived by her seven children; Ronald, De Pere, Marilyn (Tom) Knuth, De Pere, David (Sue) Jansen, Hobart, Jeanne (John) Valentine, De Pere, Gary (Mary Ann) Jansen, De Pere, Jeffrey Jansen, Suamico, Carol (Fred) Mindermann, Tennessee; fifteen grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her siblings; Rev. Gerald Kempen O. Praem, Bernard (Patricia) Kempen Jr, Bernice Gevaert, Roseanne (Dan) Polley. . Marie was preceded in death by her infant son Peter, her loving husband, brothers Marvin, Norman, Albert, Gilbert, Adrian and Raphael Kempen and her sisters Johanna Kempen and Elaine Deacon. Tenth Street, De Pere from 4 8pm Monday with Ladies Auxiliary and Wake Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue after 9:30am Tuesday at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Family corner of Suburban and Lourdes Ave. De Pere until time of service at 10:30am with Father Tim Shillcox, O.
