Obituary

John H. Cass, 80, of De Pere passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 17, 2011. He was born November 15, 1930, in Clintonville son of the late LaVern and Frances (Ullmer) Cass. John was a 1948 graduate of Green Bay West High School. On April 22, 1950, he married Donna Ellis. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the United States Navy from 1952-53. John retired from Northwest Engineering in 1992. John's favorite place was the family cabin up north, which he built over 40 years ago with his father and son. He loved spending time with his family there and went as often as he could. He instilled a love of the outdoors in his children and grandchildren teaching them to hunt and fish as he enjoyed doing. From a young age, he and his father took Buck deer and bird hunting and he and Bunny enjoyed countless fishing trips together. He also enjoyed collecting antiques such as clocks and Fostoria glass with his wife. He is survived by his wife, Donna; his daughter, Bunny Ryan and his son and daughter in law, Buck and Dawn Cass. John is further survived by his grandchildren Sarah Ryan, Jon Cass, Nic Cass, Tony Cass, and Phillip Cass as well as his brother in law Bob Ellis and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister in law Mary Ellis. Friends may call at the Ryan Funeral Home, 305 N. 10th Street, De Pere from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday, March 20. Visitation will continue after 9:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home until time of service at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Ray Larson officiating, burial in West Side Moravian Cemetery. You were the best husband, dad, and grandpa that anyone could ask for. You were unfailingly sweet, kind, loving, caring, and supportive. We will miss you so much and love you always.
