John B. Janz, 73, died Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Bellin Hospital of pnuemonia. He was born in Brookside, Oconto County on July 20, 1940 a son of the late John T. Janz and Angeline (Schmitz) Janz. John grew up on the family farm in West De Pere. On November 3, 1973 John married the former Mary Clare Wanek. John worked at St. Norbert College in the Maintenance department for 40 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 3955. John was a devoted catholic, member of St. Norbert College Parish at Old St. Joseph Church, and had a great devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. He would recite the rosary every morning. His early days were filled with fixing bikes, vacuum cleaners, and making cribbage boards. John loved playing sheepshead, WII bowling, and was a Packer, Brewers, and Timber Rattlers fan. John is survived by his wife Mary; mother Angeline Janz; siblings: Caroline Janz, Mary (Mike) Stepanski, Bart (Sandy) Janz, Carl Janz, and Debbie (Dave) Robbins , brother-in-law Harland Herrmann; sisters-in-law Elaine (Marvin) Bucholz and Lucile (Donald) Kresbsbach; his God niece Holly Robbins and his many beautiful nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father John; sisters Angeline Herrmann and La Verne Janz; niece Brenda Niemojuski; nephew Jeremy Janz, and his in-laws William and Mayme Wanek. Family and friends may visit from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 11, 2014 at RYAN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 305 N. Tenth St, De Pere. Knights of Columbus service at 6:45 p.m. and a parish prayer service will begin at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 12, 2014 at St. Norbert College Parish at Old St. Joseph Church, 100 Grant St, De Pere. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. John Tourangeau, O. Praem. officiating. Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
