John Kocken, 77, of Allouez, passed away Wednesday evening March 25, 2009 at a local hospital. The son of the late William and Bertha (Van Lanen) Kocken was born September 3, 1931 in the Town of Hobart. On October 7, 1953, he married the former Anna Hempton at St. Francis Cathedral in Green Bay. The couple farmed in Oneida for 15 years. He ran Wayside Lanes for 15 years, and then worked at Valley Cabinet, De Pere. He was a member of Oneida and Reedsville Knights of Columbus Councils.
Survivors include his wife, Anna, three daughters, Christine (Carl) Kelwaski, De Pere, Carol (Wayne) Laabs, Wayside, Maribeth (Todd) Vincent, Abrams, four sons, Joseph Kocken (special friend Wanda), Florida, Alan (Marlene) Kocken, De Pere, Tim (Sharon) Kocken, Florida, Scott Kocken (special friend Dawn Peterson), Stiles, fourteen grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two sisters and one brother-in-law, Helen Van Noie, Marie (Clarence) Vanden Elzen, two sisters-in-law, Eunice Kocken, Caroline Kocken. He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant son, a grandson, Kip Kocken, four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Neil (Harriet) Kocken, Albert (Marlene) Kocken, Walter Kocken, and Norbert Kocken, and one sister and brother-in-law Henrietta (Lester) Roffers, one brother-in-law John Van Noie.
Friends may call at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 305 North Tenth Street, De Pere from 4:00 to 8:00 pm Friday March 27, 2008 (TODAY). Parish prayer service will be held at 6:00 pm. Visitation will continue from 9:00 am to 11:00 am Saturday at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, Allouez. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Saturday at the church with Father Larry Seidel, officiating. Entombment in Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum.
