John R. Stengel 85 of De Pere died peacefully at home on Monday April 30, 2012. He was born October 26, 1926 in De Pere. John was united in marriage to Janet Hockers on August 21, 1974. John attended St. Joseph grade school and Nicolet High School. He then went to college at Central Michigan and the University of Michigan and received degrees from St. Norbert College in Chemistry and from the University of Wisconsin Pharmacy School. He opened Rexall in De Pere and later Stengel Pharmacy in Coleman. In later years he worked at Stowe Drugs in De Pere. John and Janet spent many years at Kelly Lake and later at Half-Moon Lake. Survivors include his wife Janet (Hockers) Stengel, his son John M. and wife Angela (Tyczkowski) Stengel. Janet's children also survive; Peggy Greisinger, Polly (Dale) French, Perry (Diane) Greisinger, Paul (Judi) Greisinger, Peter Greisinger, and Patrice (Neil) Brown. John's grandchildren also survive; J.T., Sophie, Bennett, Alyssa, Hannah, Allie, Carly, Nicholas, Greta, Gracie, Jordan, Breanna, Brent, and Blake, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters Marge Baumgart, and Beatrice Mallette. Per John's wishes a private family service was held. The RYAN FUNERAL HOME assisted the family with arrangements.
