Obituary

José Tavera, age 56, resident of De Pere, WI passed away on January 27, 2022. He was born on February 23, 1965, to Consuelo Magaña Del Toro and José Lopez Tavera in Glendale, California. José graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in Los Angeles, California. On February 22, 1992, he married the former Michelle Bourassa, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He loved her dearly for 30 years. He was a dedicated, doting, adoring, loving, caring, fun father to their beautiful children Alex and Chelsea, who were his world. For 25 years, José worked for Schneider National. In addition, he worked for Coldwell Banker as a Realtor and real estate photographer. Outside of work, José was a member of the Realtors Association of Northeast Wisconsin, Shriners, Masonic Society, and the Iron Butt Association. In his free time, José enjoyed photography, camera collecting, was a motorcycle, auto, and scooters enthusiast, gourmet cook/griller, boater, aviation buff, Tidy Tails maintenance Dad, avid reader, and life-long learner. Survivors include his wife Michelle Tavera, children Alex Tavera and Chelsea Tavera, his parents Consuelo Magaña Del Toro and José Lopez Tavera, mother-in-law Claudia Bourassa, sisters-in-law Paula Bourassa and Patti (Chad) Bemowski, brothers-in-law Michael (Kris) Bourassa and David Bourassa, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was prececed in death by his maternal grandparents Maria Guadalupe Del Toro Figueroa and Nicolas Magaña Godinez and paternal grandparents Abelina Lopez Vazquez and Manuel Tavera Navarro. A celebration of life will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on February 12, 2022, with a tribute at 2:30 p.m., at the Richard Mauthe Center, located on the campus of UWGB at 2418 Leon Bond Drive, Green Bay, WI 54311.
