Joseph W. "Bill" DeBauche, Jr of De Pere, passed away on Sunday, December 25, 2022 following an almost 2 year long struggle with cancer. He was 77 years old. Bill attended St. Matthew's grade school and graduated from Premontre high school. He continued his education at St. Norbert College, the University of Wisconsin, Whitewater and the University of Wisconsin, Green Bay focusing his education on mathematics and the sciences.
Bill acknowledges his talents and abilities as gifts from God.
Having served six years in the Marine Corps, Bill began his career with the Green Bay Metropolitan Sewerage District. Now, NEW Water. He served the district for over 35 years, retiring as the Director of Operations and Maintenance in 2001.
Bill was recognized for his many inspiring and creative ideas and his presentations to the wastewater treatment industry. He received many awards from his professional peer groups for his contributions and publications with respect to advancements in the field of wastewater treatment technology. He served for many years on the Wisconsin Wastewater Operator's Association Board of Directors and in 1989 was the President of the State Organization.
Following his retirement, Bill was an independent wastewater treatment consultant, serving primarily in the arena of thermal dynamics. He worked on multiple engineering projects in Cleveland, Ohio and Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Bill enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, and cooking. He loved to host family and friends at backyard pool parties.
Bill was preceded in death by his father and mother, Willard and Zita (Bubnik) DeBauche, a daughter, Kimberly, brothers-in-law, Tom and Pat Coniff, his father-in-law, Michael (Mickey) Coniff, and his beautiful niece, Booke Coniff.
Bill is survived by his beloved spouse of 26 years Colleen DeBauche, his sons, Paul DeBauche, Green Bay, and Scott (Judi) DeBauche, Tuscan, Arizona, his sister, Joan Rothe, Green Bay, and her children, Mark and Steven. He is further survived by his stepdaughter, Annye Kaye Graff and from her, his grand-children, Kale, Jordy, and Ayla Graff, and his brother-in-law, Mike (Tina) Coniff and sister-in-law, Barbara Coniff and her children, Lucas and Alex.
Family and friends may come to call at Resurrection Catholic Church, 333 Hilltop Dr. in Allouez on Tuesday, January 3 from 9:00 – 11:00 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow visitation at 11:00 AM.
