Josephine Grohusky, 92, formerly of Glenmore, passed away Thursday evening, January 26, 2012 at a local hospital. The daughter of the late Carl and Helena (Steinberg) Maurer was born December 3, 1919. She was a graduate of De Pere High School, Class of 1938. On September 20, 1941, she married Leonard Grohusky in the Town of Glenmore. He preceded her in death on October 29, 1994.
Mrs. Grohusky worked at Ford's Bakery and was Secretery for Glenrock Cheese Factory. She was a member of the Brown County Extension Homemakers (BCHCE) for over 60 years. In 1989, she was named Brown County Extension Homemaker of the Year. Josephine enjoyed fishing, bowling, sports of all kinds. She attended many Packer games and still enjoyed watching them play. Josephine was secretary for two bowling leagues, and enjoyed her gardening, flowers, baking, puzzles, and playing cards. Josephine received the National Traffic Safety Award for Homemakers in 1979.
Survivors include her son Dale (Sue) Grohusky, De Pere, one daughter, Peggy Grohusky, Green Bay, two grandchildren, Ross (Jill)Grohusky and Holly Grohusky, one great grandson Jackson; one sister Alice Schmidt; and a sister-in-law Angie Grohusky.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband leonard; an infant son Barry Grohusky; one sister, La Vern (Harold) Thiele, two brothers, Melvin (Lucille) Maurer and Carl (Noretta) Maurer, Jr., brother-in-law, Robert Schmidt, as well as Leonard's family, Agnes (Ben) Drewiske, Madylen (Victor) Moss, Frances (Clarence) Beimborn, Ed Grohusky and Bernard Grohusky.
Family and friends may call at St. John Lutheran Church, 1700 Lost Dauphin Drive, De Pere from 9:30 to 11:00 am on Tuesday January 31, 2012. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday at the church with Pastors Andrea and Brian Cain, officiating. Entombment to follow.
