Joyce Mortson, 81, former longtime De Pere resident died Thursday July 16 at a local nursing home. The daughter of the late Herman and Mayme (Smith) Menzhuber was born February 10, 1928 in Vernon Center, Minnesota. She married John Wall on April 10, 1948 at St. Joseph Church in Rosemont Minnesota, and he preceded her in death on January 5, 1972. She then married Harold Mortson on January 12 1974 and he preceded her in death on May 15, 1996.
Joyce loved to read, play bingo, and play cards. The true love of her life was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandkids. She had been a cook for 25 years at the Lorelei Inn. She was a past member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
Survivors include one son Patrick (Judy) Wall, Green Bay, three grandchildren Sean (Lori) Wall, Janel (Brian) Webster, and David (Kari) Wall, four great-grandchildren Isabella Wall, Madison Wall, Gavin Webster, and Cooper Wall. She was preceded in death by her two husbands, her parents, two sons Francis and Lawrence, one brother George Menzhuber, and one sister Claira Bartelt.
Friends may call at RYAN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMETORY, 305 North Tenth Street De Pere from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday July 24, 2009 Service in Celebration of Joyce's life will be held at 7:00 pm Friday at the funeral home with Father Gery Meehan, O.
