Obituary

Judith "Judy" Ann (Ziemer) England passed away peacefully at home, holding the hands of her children, on October 2, 2025, at the age of 78 after a brief but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Born on February 21, 1947, in Green Bay, Wisconsin, to Walter and Iris (Schneider) Ziemer, Judy grew up on her family's farm in rural De Pere. It was there that she learned the values of hard work, perseverance, and kindness—qualities that would define her throughout her life.

Judy's faith was a guiding light from an early age. She began her spiritual journey at Lark United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school, led vacation Bible school, and sang joyfully in the choir. After graduating from De Pere High School in 1965, Judy accepted a bookkeeper position at an attorney's office and insurance agency. She quickly caught on to the insurance side of the business and became licensed. Judy spent most of her career at a family-owned insurance agency working on commercial lines. Her commitment and excellence were recognized many times, including being named "Insurance Woman of the Year" by the Green Bay Area Insurance Association.

In September 1970, Judy married her soulmate, Don England. Together, they built a loving life in De Pere and raised two children, to whom Judy devoted herself wholeheartedly. Whether leading Girl Scouts, sewing costumes for dance recitals and school plays, or simply offering unwavering support, Judy's love and encouragement shaped her children's lives and instilled in them her cherished values.

Upon retirement, Judy deepened her involvement at First United Presbyterian Church, serving as a deacon, funeral luncheon chair, co-chair of the Liturgical Arts Committee, Sunday school teacher, and dedicated volunteer. Her generosity extended to De Pere Christian Outreach, where she was day manager at the thrift store and dressed the models at the annual fashion show fundraiser. Judy also contributed her time and talents to the local Antiquarian Society, the Lark Cemetery Association, and her condo association. Doing all this while forging lasting friendships along the way.

Judy's later years were filled with simple joys—thrifting, reading, gardening, hosting tea parties, and spontaneous road trips. She touched countless lives with her warmth, talents, and steadfast faith.

Judy is survived by her beloved children, Paul (Lorrie) of Grayslake, IL, and Tori of De Pere, WI; and her niece, Michelle (Michael and children). She is reunited in heaven with her husband Don, her parents Walter and Iris, her sisters Susie Ziemer and Kristine Bastian, and her brother.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Judy's life at First United Presbyterian Church on Thursday, October 9, 2025. Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., followed by a service at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to De Pere Christian Outreach.
