Judith "Judy" Ann (Van Gemert) Whitbeck, 82, De Pere, passed away on Sunday, December 27, 2020. Judy was born on December 9, 1938 in Green Bay, the only child of Clement and Arleen (Hermsen) Van Gemert. She grew up on the west side of De Pere and attended St. Boniface Grade School and was a 1957 graduate of Nicolet High School.
Born two hours, ten minutes, and two blocks apart, it was not until February 12, 1951 that Judy met the love of her life, Jerry Whitbeck. They wed at St. Boniface Church in De Pere, October 15, 1960. Together they embarked on a half-century of adventures, raising four kids, and enjoying the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Judy and Jerry often loaded up the family and the camper and took off to explore the United States and Canada. Judy loved spending time with family, camping and being on the water, fishing, floating, and taking her grandkids to swim on the sandbar.
She is survived by her children, Mary Kay Milquet (David Teddy), Wrightstown; Kathleen Whitbeck, De Pere; Robert Whitbeck (Jennifer Greunke), De Pere; and Barbara (Raymond) Rennert, Pooler, GA; her brother-in-Law, David Whitbeck; twelve grandchildren, Elizabeth (Tyler) Felchlin, Wrightstown; Benjamin (Sharon) Milquet; Sarah Buechel (Scott Gustafson), Mayer, MN; Ryan Buechel, De Pere; Samuel (Karen Ortega) Buechel, Little Chute, WI; Mackenzie (Ethan) Smith, Johnson City, TN; Andrea, Alexandra, Emily, Chase, and Bethany Rennert of Pooler, GA, and Thomas Gerald Whitbeck, De Pere; She is also survived by great-grandsons Michael Jacobs and Connor Milquet.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry, her parents, and in-laws Richard and Eunice (Timmerman) Whitbeck.
Private family services are being held on Thursday, December 31, 2020 beginning at 10:30AM at Resurrection Catholic Church, Fr. Tom Reynebeau officiating. The Mass will be live-streamed at gbres.org/live. Pictures are also posted and may be added to on Judy Whitbeck Facebook page.
The family would like to thank mom's caregiver Sharon Vander Perren, the staff at Carrington Assisted Living and Heartland Hospice, especially her nurse, Traci, whose care, and understanding were greatly appreciated during this difficult time.
