June Collins, 90 of Allouez passed away peacefully on Thursday June 27, 2013. June was the daughter of the late Clement and Sadie (Vanden Heuvel) Matzke who was born March 20, 1923 in the Town of Glenmore, where June grew up on a farm. She was a graduate of East De Pere High School. For a time June was a Nanny for the Arnie Herber Family. During the war years June worked at Green Bay Box. As a single mom, June went to school to be a Beautician; later on she became the proprietor of the Band Box in De Pere, which is now known as Classic Dimensions. On June 15, 1973 she married Ed Collins. An avid bowler and Golfer, June bowled at Willow Creek Lanes and golfed at Hilly Haven for years. After retirement she enjoyed Arts and Crafts, especially painting, and was wonderful at it. Grandma June always had Chocolate Chip Cookies waiting for her family. She and Ed, her sisters and special friends George and Ev Geurts loved to travel.
June is survived by her family, Jerry (Dee) Hudson, Gary (Eunice) Hudson, Jim (Debbie) Hudson, Gail (Dave) DeRuyter, Dennis (Barb) Collins, Sharon Schacht and friend Ron Matuszewski, and Bob (Marcia) Collins,. June's grandchildren further survive, Shelli Meyer, Cory (Chris) Hudson, Robb (Susan) DeRuyter, Krissy (Scott) Diederich, Hollie (Eric) Pedersen, Christel Collins, Eric (Kaela) Collins, Tammy Schacht and her special friend Craig Ferron, Kari (Tim) Davis, Kelly (Kaleb) Collins. Katie Collins and special friend Andy, Kimberly Collins and special friend Tim, and 23 great grandchildren. June's siblings survive; Blossom Krueger, Kenneth (Dolores) Matzke, Joyce (Bernard) Cohen, Rosella Schroeder, Gloria (Roger) Bougie, sister-in-laws, Germaine Matzke, Catherine Lindeman, Sally Collins, brother-in-law Chuck Peters, and her in-laws Ione (Ralph) Neinhaus. June was preceded in death by her husband Ed, her parents Clement and Sadie Matzke, her siblings, Roland (Ethel) Matzke, Robert Matzke, her two brother in-laws, Milton Krueger, Roland Schroeder her in-laws James Collins, Eugene (Rosie) Liebergen, Jerry Lindeman, and Ruth Peters.
Friends may call at the RYAN FUNERAL HOME 305 N. Tenth Street in De Pere from 4 7pm Sunday June 30, 2013. A parish prayer service will be held at 7pm to bring the evening to an end. Visitation will continue after 9:30am Monday at Resurrection Catholic Church 333 Hilltop Drive in Allouez, until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11am with Bishop Robert Morneau officiating.
