Karen L. (Leis) Foellmi, 63, Green Bay, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family on November 3, 2017 after a ten year battle with cancer. The daughter of Gerald "Jerry" and Marie (Barlow) Leis was born on August 1, 1954 in Sparta, Wisconsin.
Karen attended Sparta High School, and went on to graduate from the La Crosse School of Cosmetology. After spending nearly two decades as a beautician, she changed careers and began working at St. Norbert College. Over her thirty years at SNC, the loving and supportive staff became her second family.
She loved playing softball and volleyball, going boating, golfing, and most of all, dancing. Karen loved spending time with friends, but more than anything she loved spending time with her children and granddaughter. "They were the light of my life!"
Karen is survived by her children, Lynette and Benjamin, granddaughter Kaylee, brother Vernon (Carol) Leis, and the entire Foellmi family. She is further survived by other members of her extended family and an abundance of close friends that she considered family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jerry and Marie, and members of her extended family.
Visitation will take place at Pilgrim Congregational Church, 991 Pilgrim Way, Green Bay, from 3:30 to 6:30 PM on Wednesday, November 8, 2017. A celebration of Karen's life will begin at 6:30 PM with Rev. Dr. Mark McAnlis officiating.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.
