IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kathi
Newbanks
July 10, 1953 – December 18, 2022
Kathryn Roma "Kathi" Newbanks, 69, passed away surrounded by family on Sunday, December 18, 2022 following complications of an infection. She was born in Chicago on July 10, 1953 to Gordon and Mary Lois (Burkel) Doxtater.
On May 25, 1975, Kathi married Kenneth Newbanks at St Phillip's Episcopal Church in Palatine, Illinois. Together they enjoyed flying airplanes and attending air shows, Civil Air Patrol, traveling, and weather spotting.
Growing up, Kathi attended school at Glenbrook High School and graduated in 1971. She went on to continue her education at UWGB, studying urban planning and design. She worked as a computer programming consultant for many years in the Chicago area until moving to Green Bay in 1996 and continuing in that field until 2002. She also worked for the Oneida Nation in various positions upon retiring from consulting, including the Off Track Betting room in the casino and the Oneida Museum.
In her spare time, Kathi began making crafts and vending at pow-wows. Through her craft vending of over thirty years, she met and befriended many people from all over Indian Country. She also enjoyed her grandchildren's many activities, such as dance and softball, watching her Green Bay Packers, and baking pies.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Kenneth; daughter, Kyla Wallenfang (Jed Jaeger); grandchildren, Kendra Wallenfang and Robyn Wallenfang; her sister, Karen Mills (late Tracy Thomas) and brother, Kevan Doxtater; her favorite cousin and partner in crime, Donna Metoxen (Roger Metoxen); nieces and nephews, Lauren Mohawk (Doon Mohawk), Catherine Mills (Mitchell Powless), Patricia Thomas, Coty Chuculate (Jeni Metoxen), Joshua Thomas, Robert Mills (Kayla Gurule), Michael Mills and many, many great nieces and nephews.
Kathi was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon and Lois Doxtater, her grandparents and many aunts and uncles.
