On February 5, 2022, after an 8-year graceful battle with dementia, Kathryn Ann (Reince) Van Rite entered eternal life surrounded by family while listening to her favorite Elvis song, Crying in the Chapel. She was born in Algoma on July 11, 1945, the only daughter of Peter and Ione (Dier) Reince. Her father called her Katie, but everyone knew her as Kay.
In 1963 she graduated from St. Joseph Academy. On July 30, 1966, she married Don Van Rite at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral, and they spent the next 40 years making memories. Kay was a dedicated employee at Schrieber Foods for over 30 years.
Although purple was her favorite color, Kay was a die-hard fan of the Green & Gold and Brett Favre. Kay and Don were at the infamous Ice Bowl, even though Don was a Bears fan. Kay loved to dance, especially to a polka or Wooly Bully. Over the years, Kay and Jennifer traveled to many Chuck Wicks and Brad Paisley concerts. She was a proud mom and loved to be called Grandma Kay by her 4 grandsons.
Kay is welcomed to eternal life by her husband Don; parents Peter and Ione; her grandparents; her brother Bill; and sisters-in-law Carol and Pam.
Kay is survived by her daughters Traci (Barry) Elwood, Amery, Jennifer Van Rite, De Pere. Grandsons Ryan, Lucas, Spencer, and Peter Elwood. Brothers Mark (Bev) Reince, Jack (Karen) Reince, and Pat Reince. Sister-in-law Linda Reince, and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call after 9:00AM on Thursday, February 10, 2022, at Ryan Funeral Home 305 N. Tenth Street, De Pere, until time of service at 11:00AM. Burial will follow at Allouez Catholic Cemetery. Please go to www.ryanfh.com to send online condolences to the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you do something nice for a veteran or a senior citizen.
