Obituary

Kenneth J. Hendricks, 73, of De Pere, passed away with his family by his side on Thursday, February 28, 2013, after a brief battle with cancer. He was born on February 11, 1940 to the late Joseph and Lorraine (Gussert) Hendricks in Wrightstown, WI. Ken proudly served his country in the US Army from 1963 until 1965. On July 17, 1965 he married the former Shirley Treichel at St. Mary's Church in Wrightstown. Ken loved to go to his cottage, and particularly enjoyed taking his friends and family on pontoon rides. He also enjoyed watching the Packers and Brewers, loved playing cards with his friends, and going on his yearly vacation to St. Germain with his fishing friends. Ken especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife of over 47 years, Shirley; his two daughters, Sheri (Tim) Runge, Chippewa Falls, Lisa (Tim) Steffes, Kaukauna; five grandchildren, Jacob, Abigayle, Mikayla Runge, Alaina and Lauryn Steffes; a brother, Roger (Elaine) Hendricks, Wrightstown; a sister, Bernice Fye, De Pere; he is further survived by his mother-in-law, Lavern Treichel, De Pere; sister-in-law, Nancy (Bill) Krueger, Wayside; brother-in-law, Mark (Mary) Treichel, Denmark; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Ken was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Cyril Hendricks; sisters Elaine Spreeman, and Lucille Hendricks; nephew, Tom Hendricks; niece, Janice Bernetzke; brothers-in-law Ken Hendricks, and Vernon Fye; he was further preceded by his father-in-law, Herbert Treichel. Friends and family are asked to gather at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 305 North Tenth Street, De Pere, on Sunday, March 3, 2013, from 4pm until 7pm. Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Monday, March 4, 2013, from 9am until 11am when a funeral service will be held with Pastor Ted Tromble officiating. The family would like to thank Aurora Bay Care Medical Center Team, Dr. Haines, RN Jenny MacGregor, and their staff, as well as the Rennes Health Care Staff, and Aurora Visiting Nurses Hospice Team for the exceptional care they gave to Ken.
