Laurie Ann Metoxen, 62, "Lobie", of Oneida, died unexpectedly early Sunday morning February 27th, 2022, at St. Vincent Hospital. Born November 29th, 1959, to Roy and Lida (Parkhurst) Metoxen.
She is survived by her children Margot A. Springer, Marjorie L. Springer, Freeman R. Peters, Raeanne P. Funmaker, Luanne E. Funmaker, and Richard J. Metoxen. Her grandchildren Maddox Metoxen, Burnie Murray, Aleena Funmaker-Adams, Amillia Funmaker-Adams, and Atunyute Funmaker. Her siblings Dale "Ricky" Metoxen, Lynn Metoxen, Kenny Metoxen, Lyle Metoxen, and Mitch Metoxen.
Known for her bead work, star quilts, creating all types of artistic creations. She was a kind & gentle soul who enjoyed having tea and visiting with friends. Employed within the Oneida tribe. Lobie, was an avid reader and enjoyed going for walks in nature. Lobie supported the recovery community and had 18 years sobriety. She followed Lakota Sioux ceremonies since the age of 18 and was honored as a "Pipe Carrier". As a member of the Native American Church, she lived and respected that way of life.
Preceded in death by her father Roy Metoxen, her mother, Lida Metoxen, brothers, Jeffrey Metoxen, Alphian Metoxen. Laurie endured many struggles in her lifetime and is now at peace.
