Obituary

Lawrence D. McQuade (Mac), 88, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, April 28th, 2022, and is now in his heavenly home. He was born in Bayfield, Wisconsin on January 9th, 1934, to the late Pearl Margaret Sunquist and Douglas Michael McQuade. Larry dedicated his life to faith and family, including being married to the love his life Yvonne (Pichette) McQuade for 60 years. He is survived by his children; Sheila (William) Londo, Debra (Tumama) Niko, Colleen/Coco McQuade (her special friend Karol), and Mary Nell (Christopher) Heike; 14 grandchildren Brandon, MacKenzie (Lauren), Christian (Taylor), Olivia (Jacob), Emma (Andy), Allie (Taylor), Libby (Travis), Lilly, Avrie, Asia, Sophia, Kayla, Nathan, and Chase; 6 great grandchildren Maci, Stella, Larry, Murphy, Sonny, and Stella; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mom, dad, and his sisters; Phyllis Golden and Carol Freeman; and many other extended family. Larry had a love for basketball that extended all through his years. From playing as a child, through high school as a point guard for the Bayfield Bombers, all the way to the state championship, and scoring 47 points in a single game. He was very giving with his time and even volunteered coaching his daughters at St Boniface. Larry was a dedicated veteran. He spent 8 years in the United States Air Force with deployments including serving in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged from the Air Force as an enlisted sergeant with 4 honorable medals of achievement in 1960. Larry moved to De Pere after his time in the military, where he worked his lifelong career at Red Owl Warehouse. After retiring, he drove limousine for the Embassy Suites where he met many celebrities which he very much enjoyed. He was so immensely proud of his four beautiful daughters. He found joy and peace in each one as they were all different and each one so unique. He would joke that even his four-legged child was female, his beloved dog and companion of 19-years, Molly. Friends may gather at the RYAN FUNERAL HOME 305 N Tenth Street in De Pere from 3pm-7pm on Tuesday, May 3rd. The evening will close with a prayer service at 6:30pm. The visitation will continue Wednesday, May 4th from 9-10am at OLD ST. JOSEPH CHURCH, 100 Grant Street in De Pere WI until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10am with Fr. Mike Brennan O. Praem officiating. Larry's family would like to thank the nursing staff of Unity hospice for all their love and care. Our father appreciated the respect and dignity they gave him during his transition into eternal life. This is not Goodbye… because we will meet you in the Briar Patch honey, honey. WELL DONE DAD.
