Lawrence W. Vansteel, Jr., 28, of Oneida, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 22, 2011 at a local hospital. He was born in Huntsville, AL on October 7, 1982, the son of Lawrence Vansteel and Doreen (Skenandore) Zayas. Lawrence enjoyed anything to do with the outdoors especially Frisbee golf and fishing. He also enjoyed cooking and his playing with his dog Shelby. Lawrence is survived by his mother Doreen (Rueben) Zayas, Oneida; father Lawrence (Sandra) Vansteel, Sr, Kenosha, WI; significant other Jennifer Schlei; sister Teresa (Brian) Cornelius; two nephews: Anthony and Alexander; two nieces: Aphrodite and Aaliyah; grandmothers: Guinneviere Skenandore, Oneida, Helen Vansteel, Hawaii; aunts and uncles: Frank Vansteel, Joyca Hous, Wanda Skenandore, James Skenandore Jr, Douglas Skenandore, Jeffrey Skenandore, and Genevieve Zayas; numerous cousins and Shelby the dog. Lawrence was preceded in death by his grandfathers James Skenandore Sr and Frank Vansteel Jr.; and his cousin Frank Vansteel IV Family and friends may call at Oneida United Methodist Church , N6037 County Road E, Oneida, on Thursday, August 25, 2011 from 9:00 to 11:00 AM. Oneida Singers will sing at 10:00 AM and a funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM with Rev. Earl L. Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Oneida Tribal Cemetery.
