Leona A. John, 85, Oneida, passed away Thursday, June 4, 2009 at Anna John Nursing Home. Leona was born on January 1, 1924 in Lily, WI, a daughter of the late John and Mary (Baird) Bowman. On September 24, 1942, she married Irving P. John at Holy Apostles Church, Oneida. Irving preceded her in death on April 6, 1996.
Leona loved spending her time cooking, swimming, rummaging, fishing, going to carnivals, and she loved her children. Her favorite color was purple and pussy willows were a favorite of hers as well.
Leona is survived by her 15 children: Linda Bowman, Irving John Jr, Glenda Bowen, Jackie John, Carol Summers, Kathleen Polar, Andrea John, Gregory John, Porky John, Robin John, Forest John, Patrice John, Kevin John, Tony John, and Victoria Conners; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. She is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews and her special friends: son in law Eugene Franco, Ben Cannon, and Lee Webster.
Leona was preceded in death by her husband Irving; her eight children: Arvilla Mae John, Arvilla Mae Summers, Gabriel S. John, Eunice Baird, Michelle Connors, her triplets Timmy, Tom , and Tod, and her siblings.
Visitation for Leona will be Sunday, June 7, 2009 at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 305 N. Tenth St, De Pere, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Monday, June 8, 2009 at RYAN FUNERAL HOME from 10:00 AM until time of service. Funeral service will start at 12:00 (Noon) with Pastor Juan Alicea officiating.
