Lewis D. Del Marcelle, 83, De Pere, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 9, 2018. The son of Lawrence and Louise (Van Lanen) Del Marcelle was born in Green Bay on February 6, 1935. On June 20, 1958 he married Ellen Vissers in Dubuque, Iowa.
Lewis was a very private family man, but was very proud of his service to his country. He was a Green Beret for the United States Army and served all around the world over the course of more than two decades. He was awarded a Bronze Star Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, among many other medals.
He was an avid gunsmith and enjoyed restoring old vehicles. He enjoyed woodworking and loved spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren.
Lewis is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ellen; his children, Jessie (Jeanne), Richard (Karen), Russell (Patty) and Louise Bilodeau; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his siblings, Kenneth, Larry (Sharon), Rita (Floyd) Palmer, Earl Kornetzky, and other members of his extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Louise; his sister, Beatrice; brother, Henry; and granddaughters Josie Ann and Abbey Jane.
Family and friends may visit at Ryan Funeral Home, 305 N. Tenth Street, De Pere beginning at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, September 14, 2018. A prayer service with full Military Honors will begin at 6:00 p.m. Burial will take place on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Cemetery – Glenmore.
