Obituary

Lila Teresa Marie Schroeder nee Truax was received into the arms of her Savior on April 10th, 2025. Lila reached 100 years old last April 29th, 2024, celebrating with a big party at Edenbrook with family and friends. She received over 436 cards, one from every state, Canada, and Puerto Rico, spearheaded by the activities director Alfie.

Lila was born at home on a farm in Knowlton, WI, to the late Charles and Julia Truax. Lila and sisters Lily and Lillian were the first set of triplets born in Marathon County. Lila came from a large family of 10 siblings. She was first married to the late Lawrence Salter she had two children, Raymond Gene and Madelyn Margaret. She then married Norman Otto Schroeder on July 9th, 1951, and Julann Mary came along in December of 1953.

Mom was fortunate to visit New York City, and she traveled with her husband, Norman out West and many times to Las Vegas. Her son took them to Florida on vacation and Mom and Dad spent many summers at a cottage on Pickerel Lake. While staying with her son she also got to spend winters in Mississippi.

Our mother was selfless, her children always came first. She was a very creative person. For many years she and her daughter Julann had Christmas craft sales of their fine hand stitched items and ornaments. She was a member of Willow Hill Homemakers for over 20 years. She was also a Sarah Coventry sales lady. Their friends the Melchards and the Ruwoldts, gathered weekly for cards and laughter. Perks in Medina was a favorite place for Friday night fish with her sister Lily and brother-in-law Wally Maass.

Mother loved to knit, crochet, sew and garden. Her last years were spent at Edenbrook Nursing Home where she became a social butterfly and made many friends, and one special friend Nick, who when by themselves played gin rummy. I always said my mom was movie star beautiful. She definitely could have been on the fuselage of one those bombers in World War II.

Lila is survived by her son Raymond Salter, Green Bay; daughters Madelyn (Dennis) Olson, Grand Chute; Julann Boelter, Menasha; grandchildren Mellissa (Matt) Duvall, John (Cindy) Kolstad, Amy (Mark) Schiltz, Robin Vandervest (Steve), Chad Olson, Ryan (Michelle) Olson, Erik Olson, Kris (Lori) Olson, Dana Olson, Ashley Boelter. She is further survived by 16 great- grandchildren and 3 great- great- grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Norman, her brothers Edward, Leo, Clifford, Ronald, and Frederick Truax, sisters Isabelle Olson, Ann Dehlinger, Lillian Truax, Lily Maass Cummings, daughter-in-law Kathleen Salter, son-in-law Kenneth Boelter.
