Lila Irene Smith, 95, De Pere, passed away Monday, September 26, 2022. The daughter of Joseph and Lila (Nevins) Barnett, Lila was born on October 4, 1926, in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
After high school, Lila studied at Phillips University, in Enid Oklahoma, for a year and then at Lincoln Bible Institute in Lincoln IL, graduating from Lincoln with a Bachelor of Arts in Theology. There she met Theodore "Ted" Smith and they were married on June 5, 1949 and enjoyed 71 years of marriage together. Ted's teaching career took them to various locations in the Midwest including Central Illinois, Minneapolis, MN, and Antigo, WI. They spent their retirement years in the Green Bay area.
Lila was a devoted housewife and mother and a servant of the Lord in prayer for those He placed upon her heart. She was loved by those who knew her and will be truly missed as she departs us into the presence of her Lord.
Lila is survived by her children, Bill Smith, Rhonda (Bruce) Lecus, Brian (Sandy) Smith, and son in law Daniel Wilson. Her grandchildren; Kim Wilson, Justin (Andrea) Lecus, Megan (Jason) Peters, Matt (Christine) Lecus, Heather Smith, Faith (Bruce) Thornburgh, Lin (Gene) Roland, Sherry Hibbert, and Lisa Tlougan, as well as great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ted, a son, Danny Lowell Smith (stillborn), and her daughter Sharon (Wilson).
Friends may call from Noon to 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday October 4, 2022, at Nicolet Memorial Gardens & Mausoleum, 2770 Bay Settlement Road, Green Bay. A service will take place at 1:00 p.m. with entombment to follow. Ryan Funeral Home, De Pere is assisting the family.
