Lois M. Metoxen, 86 of Oneida, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on the afternoon of Tuesday October 29, 2013. She was born June 3, 1927 in Green Bay to the late Lambert and Nancy (Powless) Metoxen. In 1948 she was united in marriage. Lois loved to sew, cook and go bowling. She really liked the outdoors and working with her hands, whether it be her flower beds, gardening , planting trees and bushes and designing her rock gardens, More than anything it was the time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren is what she treasured the most.
Lois is survived by her children; Judy Sigl (Dan Sprangers), Michael J. Metoxen, Cathy L. Metoxen, Nancy Metoxen, William "Billy" (Penny) Metoxen, Cheryl (Ernie Stevens Jr.) Stevens, Jacquelyn Metoxen (James Powless), and Tracy L. Metoxen. She is further survived by her three brothers, Gerald (Alberta) Metoxen, Russell Metoxen, Ronnie (Yvonne) Metoxen, and one sister Karen (Fox) Christjohn, as well as her sister in law Lida Metoxen and numerous nieces and nephews. Lois's twenty-four grandchildren also survive; Mike, Adam, Kisus, Keith, Dan, Marie, Bobby, Matthew, Marissa, Bruce, Ashley, Chad, Brandon, Ernie III, Margaret, Maria, Lois, Rosa, Linda, Felicia, Miranda, Keshia, William, Lexandria, as well as forty-two great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her special friend Warren House, as well as her sister, Audrey (Ted) McCarroll, her brother Roy Metoxen, grandson, Joshua L. Christjohn, great grandson Julius Keith, and sister in law Jeanne Metoxen and her husband Joseph Metoxen.
Friends may call at the RYAN FUNERAL HOME 305. Tenth Street in De Pere from 6 8pm Friday November 1, 2013. A parish prayer service led by Deacon Deborah Heckel. Visitation will continue on Saturday at the funeral home after 9am, until the cortege leaves for church. The Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11am at Holy Apostles Episcopal Church with Fr. John Cell officiating, and the Oneida Hymn Singers singing.
