Lorraine Marie "Polly" Kinate (98) died peacefully on March 21st at St. Paul Elder Services in Kaukauna. Lorraine was born on Washington Island to Bjorn and Clara (Hanson) Gunnlaugsson on August 30, 1922. She was very proud of her Icelandic-Danish heritage and island roots.
In her early years she worked at Ted's Store on the Island where she received her lifelong nickname "Polly". She wed Wilbert (Bill) Kinate in 1942. Polly and Bill were blessed with ten children. Bill passed in 1994. Lorraine was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She maintained a tidy home and was a terrific cook and baker. She enjoyed reading, sewing, gardening, traveling, and playing cards, especially cribbage and bridge.

Her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings – Angeline Gauger, Pauline McFarlin, Rosalie Gunnlaugsson, Nathan (Karen) Gunnlaugsson, and Orin Gunnlaugsson.
