Mrs. Commodore (Lorraine) Metoxen, 86, of Oneida passed away Tuesday afternoon March 23, 2010 at a local nursing home. The daughter of the later Dennison and Sadie (Powless) Hill was born February 10, 1923. She married Commodore Metoxen and they were married for over sixty years prior to his death on December 8, 2007. Lorraine enjoyed sewing, gardening, rummaging, dining out and sunflowers. She was an active member of Oneida United Methodist Church and she was a long-time member of the Methodist Women's Club. Lorraine was a longtime member of the Oneida Singers and Oneida Elders Services. She loved her dog, Cuddles.
Her family includes her children, Dennis (Sharon) Skenandore, Sandra (Bernard) Hawpetoss, Carol Hill, many grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, siblings, Blanche (Edmund) Powless, Jerry (Mary) Hill, and Vivian Williams. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Commodore, son Bernie Metoxen, four brothers and one sister. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren, especially great-grandson, Tommy.
Friends may visit at Oneida Methodist Church, Freedom Road, Oneida from 5:00 to 8:00 pm Friday March 26, 2010. Oneida Hymn Singers will begin singing at 6:30 pm. Prayer service will be held at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue after 10:00 am Saturday at the church until time of services. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday with Rev. Earl L.
