Lorretta Webster, 100, Oneida Nation, WI, died on Monday, September 27, 2010. Born on July 25, 1910 in De Pere, WI to the late Elijah and Mary (Baird) Skenandore. Lorretta married Willard "Rollie" Skenandore. Later in life she married Charles Webster.
Lorretta worked with the Oneida Language Program for several years and spoke fluent Oneida. She was one of the last two remaining first-language speakers. She was a Senior Guild at Holy Apostles Church and a member of the Doh-doh Club. She spent many years doing activities at the Oneida Senior Center. She had an open door policy and no one ever left hungry. Her hobbies were sewing, gardening and cooking.
Lorretta is survived by her 2 daughters, Gloria Lusis, Milwaukee, WI and Carol Elm, Oneida, WI; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
Lorretta was preceded in death by Willard "Rollie" Skenandore, Charles Webster, as well as her son Kenneth Skenandore, ten siblings; Edgar, Leah, Matilda, Anna, Abbie, David, Ami, Lynas, Louis, and Harry.
Visitation for Lorretta will be held Thursday September 30, 2010 at the RYAN FUNERAL HOME 305 N. Tenth St. De Pere WI from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Oneida Hymn Singers at 6:30 PM followed by a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue Friday October 1, 2010 after 9:00 AM at the funeral home until cortege leaves for Holy Apostle Episcopal Church, 2937 Freedom Rd. Oneida, WI. A Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM with Rev. Kristina Henning officiating and Deacon Edmund Powless and Deacon Deborah Heckel assisting.
