Obituary

Louis Alvin Phillips, 76, passed away at Rennes Group, De Pere WI on July 5, 2025, in his sleep. Louis (Louie/Big Lou/Louie3000) was born in Green Bay on Saturday January 22nd, 1949, to the late Lester & Louella Phillips.

Louis grew up in Green Bay excelling in athletics primarily football and track & field. He joined the Navy while serving in Vietnam while also participating in boxing for the Navy. After his military service he eventually found his way back to Green Bay and started a family after getting married. He became heavily involved in the church where he enjoyed singing in the gospel choir and serving as a deacon. Louis was also very fond of volunteering at his children's school whether it be on playground duty or organizing the flag football teams. He spent 30+ years as a devoted employee but always found time to travel to and video track meets of his son Graham who he was immensely proud of. Louis was also connected to his heritage throughout the years and spent considerable time researching lineage through the Oneida tribe and enjoyed the process of learning the Oneida language. Most of all his favorite pastime was hunting and fishing by far. Louis spent considerable time throughout the year tracking, setting up deer stands, scouting, and helping others during the hunting season. Above all else the one consistent thing that Louis can be remembered for is his spirit of giving. There was never a time when he wasn't thinking of others and offering a helping hand or quite literally the shirt off his back. He is a large presence that will be sorely missed in his children's and grandchildren's lives.

Louis is survived by his children; Lauren and Graham, his two grandchildren who he loved dearly Norah & Jaxson. He was preceded in death by his parents Lester & Louella (Johnson) Phillips.
