Louis E. Weier, Sr , De Pere, Wisconsin, died on Sunday November 6, 2011.. He was born on January 16, 1933 in Independence, Wisconsin to Louis A. Weier and Nellie (Boberg) Weier.
Lou attended Independence High School where he had many fond memories, particularly hours enjoyed on the basketball court. Upon graduation from high school in 1951 he enlisted in the Air Force where he was stationed at Keesler Air Force base in Biloxi, Mississippi. After serving four years in the Air Force and 18 months at Billy Mitchell Field in Milwaukee he was offered a civilian job at Keesler. In 1985 he met Beth (Hickok) from De Pere, WI. Beth and Lou were married in August of 1986 and Lou made De Pere his permanent home after retirement from Keesler in January of 1988. Lou and Beth established L&B Custom Crafts in 1989. Lou spent the next 16 years designing and building beautiful pieces of furniture and treasures that they both enjoyed selling at local craft shows. During this time Lou volunteered with Our Lady of Lourdes St. Vincent DePaul group. He served as treasurer for many years.
Lou was preceded in death by his parents, his three brothers (Alred, Raymond and August) and two sisters (Lucille and Dorothy). Lou was also preceded in death by his two sons. His son Mike Weier died on March 17, 1977 and his son �Bud� (Louis E. Weier Jr.) died on December 29, 2007. The loss of his two sons was tragic and untimely. Only his deep and abiding faith kept him moving forward. The knowledge that he is with those he loved who have gone before him is a comfort to those he left behind.
Lou is survived by his wife, Beth. His grandson Louis E. (Trey) Weier III, Pensacola, FL, his granddaughter Chelsi R. Weier, Biloxi, MS. Lou is further survived by Beth�s children, Ginny Sanders, North Carolina, Jane and Roger Wisneski, Ashwaubenon and Steve Sanders, Green Bay. Lou had the joy of being �Grandpa Boo� to Alex and Sam Wisneski, Ashwaubenon and Kelsey and Kennedy Steen, North Carolina. Lou is also survived by Ralph and Diane Hickok, MA Ellen and Roy Wall, Green Bay and special friend �cousin� Carol Laundre, Green Bay. Lou enjoyed hours spent with his six nieces and three nephews.
Friends may call at the RYAN FUNERAL HOME 305 N. Tenth Street De Pere from 4 � 7pm Thursday. A parish prayer service will be held at 7pm to bring the evening to a close. Visitation will continue after 10:30am Friday at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Family corner of Lourdes Ave. and Suburban Drive in De Pere.
