Obituary

Lyle Janssen, age of 71 of De Pere, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday May 21, 2024 after a recent illness.

Lyle was born July 4, 1952 in De Pere, Wisconsin to Ray and Joan Janssen. He graduated from De Pere High School in 1970. Lyle married Mary Binsfeld on May 17, 1980 at St. Mary's Catholic Church and raised 2 children. Lyle worked different jobs throughout his life, with the most recent being in the bread business. He retired after 31 years from Pan-O-Gold Baking Company in January 2016.

Lyle loved hunting, fishing, bowling and softball. He appreciated coaching his children. He was always their biggest and loudest cheerleader, and most recently, for his grandchildren. For 30 years Lyle played in the Green Bay Dartball League as part of The Bar team. Lyle was thrilled being with the guys for the yearly hunting trips at deer camp, even if in his 40 years of hunting he "never seen one big enough to shoot." He enjoyed spending time at the cabin and traveling the U.S. striking up conversations with anyone. His newest hobbies were feeding the birds and gardening.

Some of Lyle's most favorite things to do was spending time with his family and his grandchildren. You would find him laughing away with the "big wins" when playing cards or cribbage. Those who knew Lyle understood his love for sweets which included ice cream. He cherished his conversations with his great-niece Kaylee while enjoying ice cream at Baskin Robbins.

Lyle had a heart of gold. He was willing to help anyone out and most friends became family to him.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; one son Jesse (Becky) Janssen, one daughter Jamie (Patrick) Mosupye; grandchildren, Braden, Kennedy, Harrison and Quinn; two brothers, Marty Janssen, Scott (Gary) Janssen, nephew/nieces, Greg (Amber), Tim (Jill), Doug (Janelle), Lynn (Andy), Peggy (Harley), Jeremy (Layla), Heather (Aaron), Stacee (Lance); mother in-law, sibling in-laws, niece and nephews of Mary's family, as well as many great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ray and Joan, his sister Cindy Boulanger, a great nephew Nathan Binsfeld, and father in-law George Binsfeld Sr.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, May 29, 2024 from 3:00 to 6:30 at Ryan Funeral Home, 305 N. Tenth Street, De Pere, WI. Lyle will be laid to rest at Allouez Catholic Cemetery.

The family would like to thank De Pere Rescue and St. Vincent's 6th floor ICU staff for all the care and compassion provided during this time.
