Margaret A. Manley, 82, passed away 8/6/11 after a three-year struggle with ALS. Throughout the course of this progressively debilitating disease, Marge remained positive, optimistic, and outgoing. These lifelong traits gave her resiliency in the face of challenge, and she found joy in helping others find happiness in their lives. Her husband, Jack, shared these traits and together they infused every day with warmth and humor.
Margaret was preceded in death by her first husband Robert J. Gilling, parents, E. L. and Grace Everson, siblings James Lee Everson, Grace Mary Hoffmann, and Mary Jane Arndorfer; step-daughter Mary Lisa Manley and grandson, Max Harry Schewitz.
Marge is survived by her sisters Edith Everson, Evaleen Neufeld and all seven of her children: Mary Beth Schewitz (David), John Gilling (Mary Monahan), Christopher Gilling (Lynn), Thomas Gilling, Paul Gilling, Barbara Danison (Nick) & Robert Gilling Jr. She is also fondly remembered by Jack Manley's children Deborah, John, Moira and Tim Manley, and by many much-loved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, Marge requested donations be made to Unity Hospice.
Visitation will be on Monday 8/8/11 from 4 to 7 pm with a closing prayer service at 6:30 PM at Ryan Funeral Home in De Pere. Visitation will precede the funeral mass will be at Resurrection Church at 9:30 with the mass starting at 10:30. Bishop Robert Morneau will officiate all services.
