Marian Denis, 94, of Green Bay, died Sunday evening, November 16, 2014 at a local hospital. The daughter of R. Winfred and Mary (Katers) Laundrie was born November 1, 1920 in Green Bay. Marian was a 1938 graduate of East High School. She married Francis C. Denis on September 6, 1941 at St. Francis Cathedral. He preceded her in death on March 28, 1989.
Marian was secretary and bookkeeper at Denis Sport Shop prior to retirement. She was an active member of the community, and served on Lac Baie Girl Scouts Council, St. Vincent Auxiliary and was a volunteer at Aurora BayCare Medical Center where she loved to knit baby caps with her daughters, Carol and Barbara. She was an active member at St. Matthew's Parish, De Pere Women's Club, the Elks Auxiliary, Green Bay Botanical Garden, Concerned Hearts and St. Norbert's President's Club. Her recent passions were knitting, gardening, volunteering at the hospitals and sharing family time at the cottages with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She and Francis loved dancing.
Survivors include her children, Carol (Larry) La Combe, David (Pamela) Denis, grandchildren, Alison (Sean) Parkinson, Elizabeth (Aaron) Clarno, Mark (Courtney) Denis, Kevin Denis (special friend, Emily Yanez), Kirsten Denis (special friend Brent Baumgartner), Eric (Melissa) Berner, Heidi (Todd) Bimmel, great-grandchildren, Taft and James Parkinson, Alexandria Clarno and Boden Denis. In addition, she is survived by one sister, Joyce (Bobby) Graves, one brother, James (Gloria) Laundrie, one sister-in-law, Caroline Denis, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Dr. James Berner, and brothers, Robert, Lloyd and Myron.
Family and friends may call at St. Matthew Catholic Church 130 St. Matthew Street, Allouez from 10:00 to 12:00 noon on Friday November 28, 2014. Mass of Christian Burial will be concelebrated at 12:00 noon on Friday November 28, 2014. Burial will be held in Allouez Catholic Cemetery.
