IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marianne Cecelia
Swanson Morris
May 4, 1930 – August 28, 2023
Marianne Cecelia Swanson Morris peacefully passed away on August 28, 2023. She was 93 years old. Marianne was born May 4, 1930, in Newberry, Michigan, to the late Dr. Albin and Ora Swanson.
Marianne grew up in Newberry with a wonderful family and a summer cottage on Round Lake. The years of summer fun in Michigan will not be forgotten. Marianne then lived in Green Bay, Wisconsin, where she met lifelong friends and raised her family. She also joined the service organization P.E.O. in 1962. This organization and its mission of educating women became an important part of her life.
A major portion of her life was spent in Sarasota, Florida, with her loving husband, Wes Morris. Sarasota was her home. She made many friends, joined Pine Shores Presbyterian Church and continued with the P.E.O. organization. Marianne loved Sarasota and all it had to offer, especially her dear friends and their time together attending concerts, plays and dinners.
Her summer home in Door County allowed her to spend time with family, friends and maintain relationships that lasted a lifetime. One of her fondest memories was watching the breathtaking sunsets from her deck overlooking the Egg Harbor Marina, where she often entertained her family and friends.
Above all, Marianne treasured her family. Her devotion to her two sons, grandchildren, stepchildren, nieces and nephews knew no bounds. She showered them with love, wisdom, and homemade treats, especially her famous chocolate chip cookies, creating lasting memories that will be cherished for generations.
Marianne is survived by her son, Robert A. Shade Jr. (Margaret); grandchildren, William Shade; and Nicholas Shade, Thomas Shade, Matthew Shade and James Shade; stepchildren, James Morris, Bonnie (Dean) Morris, Julie (Jono) Morris and Letitica (Mark) Morris; step-grandchildren, Corley Miller and Lilia Morris-Holzman; nieces and nephews, Terry (Michael) Wickman, Michael (Nicole) Swanson and Kristin (Jeffrey) Easter; great-nieces and great-nephews, Marguerite (Darrin) Wickman, Daniel Wickman, Hannah Swanson, Emma Swanson, Eric (Lauren) Holzman and Nikki Holzman. Marianne is preceded in death by her parents, Albin and Ora Swanson; son, Michael Shade; husband, Wesley Morris; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Marilyn Swanson.
The family would like to thank a long list of comforting caretakers who were true blessings in Marianne's life, including Marlice, Cindy and the Bellin Palliative Care team. Our hearts are forever grateful for your loving care.
