Marion W. Taylor, 91, of DePere, passed away on Saturday, September 17, 2011. She was born August 9, 1920 to the late Wendell "Charlie" and Hilda (Krause) Taylor of DePere, WI.
Marion's spent her childhood in Chicago and Orland Park, IL. She attended Parker High School in Chicago, IL and completed her bachelor's degree in education at Chicago State Teachers College. She started her career teaching elementary school children in Orland Park, Monmouth, and Chicago, Illinois. Marion successfully completed a master's degree of education at Chicago State University and her doctoral degree from Southern Illinois University. She spent nearly 30 years at CSU as a Professor and was the Department of Library Science and Communications Media Chairperson person when she retired in 1985.
She devoted her life to education and she will always be an inspiration to her family, friends, and former students of her library science classroom. Marion relocated to DePere following the death of her sister.
Marion is survived by her sister, Laura (Taylor) Halker of Ashland, WI; nieces and nephews, Mona (Halker) Salmon of DeKalb, IL; Clark Bucky (Toni) Halker of Chicago, IL; Paula (Halker) Adams of Eden Prairie, MN; Scott (Bonnie) Halker of Oregon, WI; and Christine Bresser of DePere; great nephews, Brian Salmon of Chicago, IL; Ian and Shay Halker of Minneapolis, MN; and Charles and Benjamin Adams of Eden Prairie, IL.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Russell Fulton, her parents, and her sister, Carol (Taylor) Bresser.
Funeral services will be held at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in De Pere on Saturday, October 1 at 11 a.m. Visitation will begin at 9a.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family for a charity to be determined.
