Obituary

Marjorie Rose Johnson, 90, peacefully passed away on December 17, 2014. In 1948, Marjorie Grey married Maynard Johnson, sharing almost 64 years together before he passed away in 2012. Marjorie lived to serve others. Her lifetime of care giving began as a young girl, assisting the many people her family took into their home during the depression and beyond. During World War ll, she served as a Medic in the Women's Army Corp. Sergeant Johnson cared for wounded soldiers in US Army hospitals, often tending to them in flights across the nation. Her passion for animals began with her family's horses and continued throughout her life. Countless stray dogs and cats found their way into her heart and her home. No doubt a herd of critters met her at heaven's gate. Gardening in even the tiniest of spaces led to a summer cascade of gorgeous colors at Marjorie's hand. Her kids, grand kids, great grand kids and an assortment of antique dolls enjoyed the beautiful clothes she created. In her 70's, Marjorie cared for the elderly. A part time job assisting folks in their homes became a full time mission. Each person became family, lovingly cared for far beyond the job. Maynard and Marjorie also delivered Meals on Wheels throughout Denmark. She is survived by her children, Kathleen Johnson, Maynard and Laura Johnson, Tom and Patty Johnson, Douglas and Carol Johnson and Kevin and Mary Johnson. Marjorie was blessed with 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Marjorie spent the last years of her life in the loving care of her Century Ridge Assisted Living family. Her family is grateful for all of her caregivers who made Century Ridge her home, treating her with compassion, dignity and great affection.
