Mark P. Baeten, 84, of Charlotte, NC, died Thursday, October 9, 2008. Mark, the son of Peter G. and Mary (Hoffman) Baeten, was born April 9, 1924 in De Pere.
Mark was a graduate of St. Norbert College. He was a World War II Veteran with the US Army 320 Flight Squadron for three years in the South Pacific; Philippines, New Guinea, and Guadalcanal campaigns. His business career of 37 years was with General Motors Corporation.
Mark is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Eileen Reding; daughter, Paula and her husband Marvin Schrum; daughter, Mary Claire and her husband Michael Gwyn and granddaughters Madeline and Mairin Gwyn. Surviving siblings are Bede Baeten and his wife, Evelyn; Jean Baeten Shaughnessy; Paul Baeten and his wife, Patricia; Allen Baeten and his wife, Janice; and sisters-in-law Betty Baeten and Carol Baeten, as well as his aunt Sister Mary Bede Baeten CSJ. A Memorial Mass for Mark will be celebrated on Friday, October 17th at 10am at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Family corner of Lourdes Ave. and Suburban Dr. De Pere with Fr. Tim Shillcox O.Praem officiating. The RYAN FUNERAL HOME, De Pere is assisting with local arrangements.
