IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mark James
Mcmullen
June 16, 1948 – February 1, 2023
Mark J. McMullen, age 74, of Green Bay, Wisconsin, passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, with his wife and daughters by his side. He was born in Edina, Minnesota, to Raymond and Marjorie (McSorley) McMullen on June 16, 1948. He and his parents moved back and forth between Milwaukee and Minneapolis throughout his childhood. He grew up in a very Irish family surrounded by cousins and finally became a big brother to Jimmy when he was twelve.
Mark attended Campion Jesuit High School, a boarding school for boys in Prairie du Chien. He transferred to Dominican High School for his senior year when his parents moved to Whitefish Bay. He attended Marquette University and graduated in 1970.
He began his career in finance in Milwaukee at Loewi & Company followed by a move to the Marine Bank. He married Mary Margaret Murray in 1975. She was, as he always said, the best decision of his life. They welcomed two daughters, Megan and Maureen, of whom he was always so proud. The three girls, as he often called them, were the highlight of his life.
They moved to Green Bay, Wisconsin, in 1981 when Mark joined Kellogg Bank in the treasury and bond department. He retired from Associated Bank 31 years later as the Executive Vice Chairman.
Mark was a successful banker and thrived on being involved in the Green Bay community. He considered service a privilege and responsibility, and he met some of his best friends through these endeavors. He held key leadership roles at the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation, Cornerstone Foundation, Chancellor's Council of Trustees at UW-Green Bay, Boys and Girls Club of Green Bay, State of Wisconsin Investment Board, Bellin Health and Bellin Foundation, and Associated Bank Northeast Region Advisory Board. He was the recipient of the 2014 Rotary Free Enterprise Award.
Mark was chairman of the Green Bay-Brown County Professional Football Stadium District Board during the initial renovation of Lambeau Field, from 1998-2002. Mark was appointed to the board of the Green Bay Packers in 2007 and was named Treasurer and member of the Executive Committee in 2010 – a Super Bowl year!
Mark held a lot of titles throughout his life, but his favorite was "Pop," the name he was given by his first grandchild, Michael. His sense of humor was legendary and he was widely respected for his loyalty and integrity. He was happiest with the ten people he loved most at his cottage or on Sanibel Island. He loved being on water and was a die-hard fisherman with mediocre success. He spent hours filling his collection of bird feeders. He was extremely knowledgeable about all makes and models of cars. He was quick with a joke and his Irish eyes were always smiling.
Mark will be missed and loved forever by Mary, his wife of 47 years, his daughter Megan McMullen Pack (Eric) and their children Michael and Margaret, and his daughter Maureen Fallon (Martin) and their children Connor, Nora, and Sean.
He is further survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Mary McMullen, and their children Jessica (Robert), Mark (Caitlin), Maggie, Josephine (Jacob), and Clare. He leaves behind godchildren, cousins, friends, and his loyal dog, Emmett.
He is preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Marjorie (McSorley) McMullen and Mary's parents, William and Marian (Riley) Murray.
