Mark Alan Quam, a beloved husband, father and friend of De Pere, WI, passed away on March 5, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and service. Born in Stoughton, WI on June 16, 1950, Mark was the son of Virginia and Norman Quam.
Mark's academic journey led him to the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he pursued his passion for social work, graduating with a master's degree in 1975. In August of 1972, he embarked on a lifelong journey with his beloved wife and soul mate, Margaret.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Mark was known for his zest for life. An avid fisherman, he reveled in the great fishing excursion, often regaling friends and family with tales of his adventures, accompanied by his wicked and dry sense of humor.
Throughout his illustrious career, Mark served as the director of human services for Jefferson, Brown, and Winnebago counties, touching countless lives with his compassion and dedication.
In the kitchen, Mark was a culinary maestro, delighting in the creation of sumptuous meals, utilizing every pot and ingredient imaginable, while his loving family happily handled the cleanup.
Mark leaves behind a cherished legacy of love and family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Margaret, and their children: Kirsten (Ron Kemnitz), Amanda Kittleson (McLain), and Jake (Levana Gray). His grandchildren, Abbigail and Zachary Kittleson and Leona Gray, were a constant source of joy and inspiration.
Mark's memory will be forever treasured by his siblings: Michael (Jenni), Penny Anderson, May Eberhardt (Larry), and Sue Zane, along with his nieces and nephews: Matthew Quam, Elizabeth, Nicholas, and Christina Eberhardt.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Virginia and Norman Quam, his nephew, Casey Anderson, and brother-in-law Hank Zane.
A Celebration of Life in honor of Mark will be held on Saturday, March 23rd, from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm at Just Stop In, 5316 Wisconsin Hwy 57, De Pere. The family extends a special thank you to the Brown County Sheriff's Department, Jason Stuckart, Derrick Fameree, Nick Nerat and the EMTs of County Rescue for their dedication and support during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to PBS Wisconsin, a cause dear to Mark's heart.
Mark Alan Quam will be dearly missed but forever remembered for his warmth, humor, and unwavering love for his family and community. May he rest in eternal peace.
