Marquita Little Star Hill, Yelihwa‧yᴧs "She Lays Down the Matter," 40, Oneida, passed away on Sunday evening, August 4, 2024. She was born on January 16, 1984 to the late Suzanne T. Delgado-Hill and Robert E. Hill Sr.
Her brother Berto, whose Oneida name means "He Who Pounds the Earth" came to welcome Marquita to the Spirit World as the thunder pounded the Earth and lightning lit up the sky, she peacefully passed. He accompanied her to their Mother with open and loving arms.
Marquita was known as "Mother Earth," and had a magnetic energy drawing the Littles to her. She loved them all, was a baby whisperer and had a gift for understanding them. She was very artistic and loved hosting gatherings and cookouts for her family and friends, who were the most important people to her. Marquita had a gift for carpentry and macramé, and she loved to play volleyball, basketball and kickball. She also loved her Chicago Bears, Milwaukee Bucks and Brewers.
Marquita is survived by her children, Kelis Cornelius, Tyra King and Efrain Ninham; the love of her life, Dana Ninham; father, Robert Hill Sr. (Matilda); and siblings, Tina (Fernando) Webster, Sabrina King and Forest Hill.
She is further survived by her grandma, Beverly Hill; mother-in-law JoAnn "Jo Moma" Ninham, sister-in-law Delia Smith; nieces and nephews; Natalea Laura, Tahreesa Marie, and Briella Lynn, Suzanne (Hector) Mosqueda, Priscilla (Zarif) Higgs, Alex Coronado, Roberto (Paola) Webster, Fernando Coronado III, Tinamarie Coronado and Fox Christjohn; great nieces and nephews, Suzanna Martinez, Tyree Howard, Hector Mosqueda Jr., Za'Niya Pate, and Adriel Mosqueda; and Dana's entire family. She loved more than we could ever list.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Suzanne Theresa Delgado-Hill; brother, Roberto Jr.; grandpa, Edward Kay Hill; grandpa, Joseph Delgado; grandma, Evangeline Constance Webster-Delgado; Travis Cornelius, father of Kelis Cornelius; cousins, Sheldon Hill and Leah Cornelius; little cousins, Jonathan Jimenez and Baby Wheelock; uncle, Timothy J. Hill; auntie, Sherry Hill; uncles, Gerald, Eugenio, Robert and Joseph Delgado; aunt, Laura Delgado, and brothers-in-law, Aaron King, Jeremy Webster.
Family and friends may visit on Thursday, August 8, 2024 at Ryan Funeral Home, 305 N Tenth Street, De Pere, WI from 3:00 to 7:00 PM Visitation will continue Friday morning, August 9, 2024 at 10:00 AM. The Oneida Hymn Singers will begin at 10:30 AM followed by a service at 11:00 AM led by Bob Brown and Sonny Hill. Burial will occur later at Oneida Sacred Burial Grounds.
Special thanks to all of Marquita's aunties on both sides of her family, "Jo Moma," special cousins and friends, specifically Linda Lou and Corrine, for always being there to support Marquita and share their love. Additional thanks to the staff at Bellin ICU for their care, especially Dr. Bellg, nurses Emily, Ashley, Jordan and Jayne.
