Mary Anne Gussert, 85 of De Pere, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 23, 2026. She was born on February 6, 1941, to the late Richard and Mary (Pokrywka) Carroll. She graduated from Wrightstown High School. She met her loving husband Tom at Billotti’s Pizza Garden in De Pere, and they later married on May 8, 1965. Together they were blessed with four children, Debbie, Jeff, Diane, and Steve.
Mary Anne worked at Fort Howard prior to getting married, and after her and Tom started their family, she became a stay-at-home mom. She was involved in 4-H and was a member of the Homemaker’s Society. She was Homemaker of the Year in 1982.
She was heavily involved in the Altar Rosary Society at St. Francis Xavier Church in De Pere. Mary Anne enjoyed golfing, bowling, crafting, sewing, gardening and baking. Mary Anne was known for her apple squares. She loved spending time with her family and often went to her children’s and grandchildren’s special events.
Mary Anne is survived by her husband, Tom, her children, Debbie (Joe) Morris, Jeff (Sue) Gussert, Diane (Don) Higginson, and Steve (Deb) Gussert, her grandchildren, Matt, Megan, Jake, Chris, and Grace. She is further survived by her siblings, Ed (Carol) Carroll, Florence Angell, Marge Carroll, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brothers Dick and Jack Carroll. She was also preceded in death by her in-laws Antone and Marie Gussert, and siblings-in-law Barb (Marshall) Enderby, and Don (Mary Jo) Gussert, and their daughter Pam Bowers.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 29 at Ryan Funeral Home, 305 N Tenth Street, De Pere, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. A prayer service will begin immediately following visitation. Visitation will continue Monday morning, March 30, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at St. Francis Xavier Church, 220 S Michigan St, De Pere. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 am with Fr. Jason Blahnik presiding.
