Obituary

Mary Jo Seehafer, 66, of Green Bay, died Tuesday May 10, 2011, due to complications of Progressive Supranuclear Palsy at Unity Hospice in Ledgeview. The daughter of the late Clarence "Happy" and Helen (Hellmer) Verdegan was born December 19, 1944, in Kewaunee. On March 30, 1968, she married Ronald Seehafer and resided in Ashwaubenon. Mary worked for many years at Port Plaza Mall in Green Bay. She was a giving and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who always thought of others before herself. The selflessness with which she fought her illness was reflective of how she lived her life. She will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved her. Survivors include her husband, Ronald, two children, four grandchildren, one brother, Michael Verdegan, Kewaunee, one sister-in-law, Rozann, an aunt and uncle, nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as Myrna Larsen. She was preceded in death by her parents, her baby sister, Mary, and one brother, James. Family and friends may call at Ryan Funeral Home, 305 North Tenth Street, De Pere from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday May 12, 2011. A parish prayer service will close the visitation at 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 1:00 pm Friday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Green Bay, with Father Paul DeMuth, officiating. Private entombment in Allouez Mausoleum. Please visit www.ryan.com to send online condolences to the Seehafer family. The family extends a special thank you to Bellin and Unity Hospice staffs, especially Dr. James. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established. After Glow I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one. I'd like to leave an after glow of smiles when life is done, I'd like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways, of happy times and laughing times and bright and summer days. I'd like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun, of happy memories that I leave when life is done. ~Helen Lowrie Marshall
