Obituary

Mary J. Vanden Hoogen (Mae Albers). 89 of De Pere passed away peacefully on Christmas Eve 2009 at a local hospital surrounded by her family. She was born May 1, 1920 to the late John and Nellie (Minten) Vanden Heuvel. On September 24, 1941 she married Henry Albers and he preceded her in death on November 18, 1964. She then married Herman Vanden Hoogen on October 22, 1966, and he preceded her in death on January 22, 1985. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Community of De Pere. She loved to play cards and go to the casino. She was a real role model to her family whom she loved to spend time with. Mae especially loved and waited for the hugs from her grandchildren. She is survived by her children; Carol (Tom) Trofka, Janice (Jerry) Van Groll, Don (Janice) Albers, Betty (Joe) Vissers, Marilou (Bill) Colfax, Ann (Jerry) Henrigillis, Dorothy Vanden Hoogen, Barbara (John) Prince and Kathy (Mike) Metoxen. Mae is further survived by her 29 grandchildren, and 40 great grandchildren. She is further survived by her sister Della DeStarkey, and her in laws; Bud (Audrey) Albers, Lorraine Albers, and Agatha Albers, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mae was preceded in death by her two husbands, Her son Bob Vanden Hoogen, as well as her siblings; Josephine (Alphonse) Rottier, Ted (Tony) Weyers, Francis (Marie) Vanden Heuvel. Jeanette (Bob) Vissers, Marv (Elaine) Vanden Heuvel and Don DeStarkey, as well as numerous inlaws. Friends may call at the RYAN FUNERAL HOME 305 N. Tenth Street De Pere from 3 7pm Sunday (TODAY) with a parish prayer service at 7pm to bring the evening to a close. Visitation will continue after 10am Monday at St. Mary Catholic Community Pope John XXIII Circle Town of Ledgeview until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11am with Fr. John H. Harper officiating.
