Mary (Manders) Schleis, 92, of De Pere WI, passed away peacefully on April 9th, 2025, at her home, surrounded by family. Mary was born on October 8th,1932 in De Pere, WI to the late Joseph and Eileen (Van Sistine) Manders. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Mary is survived by her husband of 69 years, Donald and their seven children. Michael (Nancy), David, Peter, Paul, Thomas (Mark Tilley), Susan (Blair Johnson), Katie (Jeff Hampton). Mary and Don have fifteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Grand children include Sarah and Ben Weyenberg (Owen, Lukas, Molly). Elizabeth and Brett Gloudeman (Gabriella, Emma, Mallory, Sam). Kathryn and Brady Zwiefelhofer (Evelyn and Scarlett), Jenna Schleis and Riley Schleis, Michael Schleis and Kyle Schleis, Samantha Schleis (Joseph Herdman) and August Schleis, Emily (Laylah) and Ian Johnson, Benjamin and Joshua Hampton.
Her surviving family members are Kay and Larry Van Alstine, Jeanne and Tom Chopin, Jodi and Gene Gibbons.
She was preceded in death by her brother Jim Manders (Doris), grandsons Jeremy Schleis and Connor Johnson.
Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, always putting her family first. She was known for her quick wit, upbeat personality, volunteering, playing bridge, Saturday coffee with her sisters. She enjoyed her family time at Soo Lake, which she considered a "little piece of heaven". Mary was kind, generous, and an excellent cook and baker, but she never followed the recipes. She touched the lives of many, and her memory will live on in our hearts.
Visitation 9:00AM to 10:45AM Tuesday, April 15th, 2025, with a Catholic funeral service at Our Lady of Lourdes Church following at 11:00AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the De Pere Christian Outreach and Unity Hospice.
