Maureen Dawn Schlag, 52, Suring, passed away at home Sunday, September 20, 2026. She was born March 12, 1974, to the late David and Lynne (Zirbel) Doherty.

Maureen graduated from West De Pere High School.

She waitressed at Green Bay Country Club before going into farming with her partner Paul Yeager.

In 2001, she married Paul Schlag, and they had two sons, Alexander and Tobyn.

Maureen was actively involved in church and community and enjoyed spending time with her kids and friends. She enjoyed arts and crafts, making cards, and gifts for family and friends. Maureen kept a journal for many years in which she wrote poetry and her day-to-day thoughts and experiences.

She is survived by her sons: Nicholas (Jenna) Wagner, Alexander Schlag, and Tobyn Schlag. Grandchildren: Lola, Francine, and Winona Wagner. Maureen’s sister Jennifer Doherty (James Tyczkowski), sister-in-law Susan Smits, nephew Brady Smits, niece Kennedy Schuessler, and stepfather Jerry (Colleen) Cady.

She was preceded in death by her father David Doherty, her mother Lynne Cady, and her brothers Brad Smits and Brian “Tiny” Smits.
