Obituary

A celebration of the life of Max (Michael L.) Frost will be held on Saturday, April 9, at the Webb Theatre of St. Norbert College, 100 Grant Street. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 10:30 with the celebration at 10:30 a.m. Max passed away on Thursday, December 2, 2021 Known for his wit, his acting talent, his advocacy of theatre, the arts, and sound financial advice through Max Frost & Company, Max wrote a financial advice column for the Green Bay Press Gazette Business section for almost 30 years. In his forty years in Green Bay, he was active in the arts and education. He served as president of the board of Community Theatre, Pamiro Opera, and was the co-founder with Beverly Saxe of Evergreen Productions, Inc. In addition, he was a board member of the American Red Cross and a member of the Downtown and De Pere Rotary Clubs, and the Downtown Optimists Club. As a strong supporter of education, he served on the Bellin College board for eleven years and on the Einstein Project board for three years, often appearing at events as Albert Einstein. As an actor, he appeared on every stage in the community with his last performance on the Weidner Stage as Mr. Potter in the UWGB production of It's a Wonderful Life, a perfect last act. Born in 1938, in Jesup, Iowa, the son of Bernard and Mina Malcom Frost, he worked in the family business, Frost Oil Company, from the time he was a child. Max's first business was a paper route, business training he firmly believed in for kids. After graduation from Campion Jesuit High School in Prairie du Chien, he became a Jesuit brother and, in that role, served as treasurer and business manager of St. Bonifacius Seminary in St. Bonifacius, MN, Creighton University High School in Omaha, NE, and Marquette University High School in Milwaukee. After graduating from Marquette University in Business and Economics, he pursued a masters in theatre set design at Marquette. After his marriage in 1970 to Susan Creviere, they made their home in Jesup where he was the vice president of Farmer's State Bank and a partner in Jesup Insurance and Jesup Realty and was president of the Jesup Library board. To teach his children business, he purchased a laundromat where they made morning runs to open and do the books. An avid traveler, Max was a "macho driver", always up for a road trip, and undaunted by traffic in New York City, London, or Paris. Fearlessly, he navigated the country roads of France, England, and Scotland, the land of his ancestors. Over two summers, he and his son logged more than 11,000 miles chasing barbeque joints across the country. He is survived by his wife, Susan, his daughter and son-in-law, Miriam Michelle Frost and Russell J. Jungwirth, his son and daughter-in-law, Matthew John-Alexander Frost and Corin Ludwig Frost all of Palm Springs, California, and his sister, Sister Patricia Frost, SSND of Mankato, MN. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Father Thomas J. Frost, OFM on December 1, 2021, and his in-laws, Paul J. and Marie Schmitt Creviere, publishers of the De Pere Journal (Democrat). Max was equally passionate about theatre and nursing education. Scholarship memorials may be made to the Bellin College for dementia care education or the University of Wisconsin – Green Bay Theatre Department. The service for Max will be available to watch on the Ryan Funeral Home Facebook page on Monday, April 11th.
